Past Grand Master Donald E. Krueger Passes to the Lodge Eternal
Bro. Donald E. Krueger, PGM, of Tampa, Florida, passed away Sept. 12, 2010 at the age of 94.
He was born in Milwaukee, Wis., on May 26, 1916, to Arnold A. and Lorraine (nee Pfieffer) Krueger.
He graduated from Burlington High School and Carroll College. Bro. Krueger was employed by the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Milwaukee until his retirement in 1976.
He served a President of the Board of Trustees of Racine County Hospital and as President of the Wisconsin Board of Directors of County Hospitals. He was active in the First Congregational Church and has served on the Racine County Social Services Board of Directors.
He was a 57 year member of Waukesha Lodge No. 37 serving as Master in 1961. He was also a member of Burlington Lodge No. 28. Bro. Krueger was elected Grand Master of Masons in Wisconsin in 1969.
Grand Master Krueger instituted the Grand Lodge’s Long Range Planning Committee. He served on many Grand Lodge committees and will be remembered for over 30 years service on the Grand Lodge Personnel Committee, Masonic Home Personnel Committee and the Wisconsin Masonic Board of Welfare.
Bro. Krueger was the Executive Secretary of the Masonic Relief Association of the United States and Canada. He was the first Executive Director of the Wisconsin Masonic Foundation and the Masonic Medical Foundation of Wisconsin, Inc. He started the Development Office and initiated the Grand Master’s visits to Florida and Arizona.
Surviving are his wife of 71 years, Lila; daughter Kathleen Merrill (and former husband Michael); half-brother Arnold Jr. of California and many other relatives and friends.
Private Services were held for the family.
